Why your web-based transaction and your credit card information are secure:
All communication between your computer and our order page is scrambled with the highest level
of encryption available for today's popular browsers. Encryption is the process of translating
meaningful communication into indecipherable code and then back into meaningful communication.
To ensure a high level of security when accessing the mindfulnesstapes.com order page, our host,
CAPE.COM, employs 128-bit SSL encryption and hosts the system on a Secure Web Server.
Mindfulnesstapes.com uses Cape.Com's Verisign encryption "key", with Cape.Com's permission. This
ensures that communication between you and the order page cannot be translated by anyone without
the correct "key". This level of security is available for both Netscape Navigator® and
Microsoft Internet Explorer® browsers free of charge.
Technically, using 128-bit encryption means that each time you place an order, your computer is
assigned a "key" made up of a string of 128 zeros and ones. All messages from your computer to the
order system are then coded based on this "key," but they can only be decoded using the equivalent
128-digit "key."
It is important to note that each time you access the site, a different "key" is assigned, so
that anyone attempting to break through the encryption algorithm would have to start from scratch.
To put that into perspective, a 128-bit key has 2 to the 128th power, possible combinations.
Spelled out, that is 340,282,366,920,938,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 different possibilities.
In addition to hosting the mindfulnesstapes.com site on a Secure Web Server, our order system
employs PGP (Pretty Good Privacy), a popular encryption algorithm that uses public/private key
encryption. As soon as your order leaves the Secure Server, it is re-encrypted with the
mindfulnesstapes.com public PGP key, then transmitted to our order department. To complete and
process your credit card order, the encrypted order is then moved to a non-networked computer,
decrypted and processed offline. The result? At no time during the ordering process, from initial
order placement to fulfillment, can your credit card information be viewed or accessed by third
parties. |
